MPS Voltage Current Monitoring System
The VCM-ENSII

A Valuable Addition to

Shaft Riding Brushes!

Dual Voltage Current Monitor - E, for Large Turbine Generators

Now you can catch the onset of a problem long before it is indicated on vibration and other monitoring devices. The Voltage Current Monitor-E (VCM-E) is a reliable predictive maintenance tool that provides critical information to help prevent shaft current damage to seals, bearings, couplings and gears. Attached to the grounding circuit of shaft riding brushes, the VCM-E continuously monitors brush currents and shaft voltages for easy trending and diagnosis. If the VCM-E registers a value of concern, the alarm will trigger and preventive measures can be taken before damage occurs. Recommended for installation on large or critical units.

Key features:

  • Expands your shaft riding brushes into a valuable predictive maintenance system.
  • Provides critical information on shaft currents and voltages.
  • Alarm warns when shaft riding brushes are worn or need adjustment.
  • Alarm signals when high voltage, high or low current limits have been reached.
  • Helps prevent costly downtime and unit crashes.
  • Provides for safe and simple maintenance of shaft riding brushes.
  • Reduces costly parts replacement.
  • Is essential for critical and large rotating machinery.

VCM-EX-X Basic VCM-E Units - for all applications

Essential for Condition Based Maintenance

The VCM-E is a valuable predictive maintenance tool that provides critical information on shaft voltages and brush currents. The VCM-E continuously monitors peak shaft voltages, and peak or average brush currents for accurate trending and easy diagnosis. Output signals are provided for easy integration into computer monitoring systems. The VCM-E alarm system is an early warning to personnel that maintenance is needed before a problem develops. If voltage or current levels rise or fall beyond the set limits, the alarm will trigger and the local LED indicators will light up inside the display window. Corrective measures can then be taken to prevent voltages or currents from reaching dangerous levels. To monitor shaft voltage, a voltage sensing brush is required.

The VCM-E enables the collection of trending data, allowing the user to analyse the operating history of the monitored machine.

Key features:

  • Alarm detects worn shaft riding brushes
  • Alarm detects dangerous shaft voltage levels
  • Custom voltage and current settings to match your unit's requirements
  • Convenient local selection of window display; selection by rotary switch on side panel
  • Provides signals for continuous monitoring
  • Connects to any data collection system
